Thousands of years ago, the Arote Peninsula was home to ancient Chamorro people, and remnants of that time long ago are being uncovered.

Pre Magellan Burial Site Found At Gab Gab Beach

Gab Gab Beach is a popular spot for military personnel and their families, but very few are aware of the history that lies beneath.

Just recently ancient remains were discovered. Archaeologist Sandy Yee says what was dug up, were the remains of a young boy or girl.

And while dating these artifacts would be difficult, she believes they are precontact, anywhere between 800 and 1500 ad,

It has not been decided what will happen to the remains, Yee saying there are two options.

It was just last year other remains were discovered on the other side of the peninsula, those at Dadi Beach.

That burial site was believed to be part of another village, and instead of digging up the remains, they were left intact at the site.

Gab Gab Beach is located on the Naval Base, and the burial site is being roped off while officials determine what will be done with the remains.
