Copper coins dating back to Mughal era were discovered in a village, about 60 km from Guna, during the repairs work of a house, police said today.

As many as 425 ancient coins were found when one Nannu Lal was digging in his house to carry out some repair works at Bapcha Viran village, Guna Superintendent of Police KP Vyankateshwar Rao told reporters.

A tourist guide Muzzafar Hussain, who is an expert of Persian language, said after studying the coins names of Allauddin Mahmood Shah Khilji I, Gyasshah Khilji, Nasirshah Khilji and Mehmood Shah Khilji II were inscribed on them.

He claimed that these coins were in vogue during 1436 to 1530 AD period.

The SP informed that mint mark of Chanderi, Ujjain and Mandu were inscribed on coins, adding that they will be handed over to the State Archaeological Department for preservation.
