The earliest image of a kuker (a masked male dancer in Bulgarian tradition) has been found in the ancient Thracian city of Perperikon in southern Bulgaria, archeologist Professor Nikolay Ovcharov told FOCUS News Agency.

During excavations the archeologists unearthed a big bowl with decoration dating back to the 13 century. At the beginning the decoration used to be a composition.

One of the images has been preserved a kuker dressed in bearskin, with its paws hanging over his shoulders and his head covered with the bear' s head.
