The Department of Archeology (DoA) has claimed that the artifacts found in a cave at Kalimati village of Parbat district in western Nepal could be thousands of years old.

According to Sunday's Republica daily, the department said initial investigation showed the statue of lord Krishna, clay pots and other artifacts found in the cave were of Stone Age.

A DoA team took the artifacts to the capital Kathmandu for further investigation.

Assistant Chief District Officer of Parbat, Tulsi Sharma, said the DoA has directed the District Administration Office to protect the site, adding that the artifacts could be the oldest found through excavation in Nepal till now.
