2000 Year old Archeological Column was discovered in Daraa

A basaltic stone column was discovered on Sunday during a project aimed at moving the archeological and architecture items to the National Museum of Daraa.

The column's height is 1, 5 meters, standing on a square base.

Secretary of Daraa National Museum Ayham al-Zoubi said that the column dates back to 2000 BC, and contains ornamentations and Nabataean writings. He added that the importance of the discovery lies in the rarity of Nabataean-era writings in Daraa, noting that the pillar is only the third discovered item with Nabataean writing.

Al-Zoubi said that the Museum has collected 152 archeological items so far, adding that all these items are being currently showcased at the Museum.
