Rankin House excavation unearths historic artifacts

An archeological dig is under way at the historic Rankin House near Ripley, Ohio. Jeff Dilyard is shown working near the site on the west side of the property. Old nails, pieces of dishes, pottery, bones, brick fragments and a "projectile point" thought to be either a knife blade or spear point are among the items recovered at an excavation site beside the Rankin House in Ripley.

Stirling Castle knight revealed as English nobleman

When high resolution satellite photographs became readily available to archaeologists in the late 20th century, they noticed lines in the terrain, radiating outward from Chaco Canyon. Using the photos, the archaeologists went on site to determine the source of the lines.

Archaeologists are scrambling as accelerated erosion sweeps away artifacts on Alaska

Scientists from the University of Colorado took photographs of the boat while on a geography expedition of Alaska's Arctic shoreline. The scientists weren't looking for artifacts of twentieth century whaling crews. They were geographers doing a simple but high tech and detailed GPS survey of the coast. They were gathering data that could be added to climate change computer models or used to help with coastline construction in the Arctic.
